It's Ok to Be Neither: Teaching that supports gender-variant children

mooserrific:

I think this teacher’s approach to making their classroom more gender-variance friendly is inspired! I want to read all the gender-variance children’s books they suggest, and I think more teachers should have this approach because gender programming starts so early, and it can be so hard on gender non-conforming children! And it just warms my heart that it isn’t a simplistic version of trans* that’s like some girls want to be boys and some boys want to be girls, that it’s more inclusive by saying “It’s OK to be neither.” I just want to hug my inner child and tell hir that! <3333

Ooooh. SO relevant, because I start teaching at a daycare/preschool tomorrow. My boss didn’t even know what LGBT stood for, so…I have some work to do. Slowly, so no one FLIPS OUT, but still. *takes notes*
